Lord Allan Velasco?

Lord Allan Jay Quinto Velasco is a dedicated public servant, lawyer, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives. Known for his integrity, humility, and commitment to the people of Marinduque, he has built a career anchored on service, leadership, and progressive governance.

Educational Background

Lord Allan Velasco earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from De La Salle University. He later pursued a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Santo Tomas and became a member of the Philippine Bar in 2005. His academic foundation in business and law has guided his professional and public service journey, blending sound judgment with a deep understanding of governance and policy.

Professional Career

Before entering politics, Velasco established himself in the legal profession, serving as the Marinduque Chapter President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. His legal experience honed his analytical skills and instilled in him a strong sense of justice and fairness — principles that continue to guide his public service. 

Personal Life

Born on November 9, 1977, Lord Allan Velasco hails from a family deeply rooted in public service. He is the son of former Supreme Court Justice and Marinduque Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr. and former nurse and public servant Lorna Quinto Velasco. He is married to Rowena “Wen” Amara-Velasco, with whom he has five children: Sophia, Bella, Ramon, Sara, and Lord Jose Maria. A devoted husband and father, he balances his public duties with his role as a family man grounded in faith and compassion.

Public Service Experience

Velasco began his government service as the Provincial Administrator of Marinduque from 2008 to 2009, where he led efforts to promote local tourism, sports, and sustainable development. He was elected as Representative of Marinduque’s Lone District in 2010, and later re-elected in 2016 and 2019. His leadership and dedication to legislative reform earned him key positions, including: 

  • Chairman of the House Committee on Energy
  • Chairman of the Oversight Committee on the Solid Waste Management Act
  • Co-Chairman of the Joint Congressional Power Commission

In October 2020, Velasco was elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives, where he oversaw significant national legislation and prioritized unity and transparency within the legislative branch.

After completing his term, he continued his commitment to serve the people of Marinduque by running for Governor in 2025, driven by his vision of inclusive growth and sustainable progress for the province.
